The shop assistant hurt a stray cat, but just minutes later deeply regretted
her action
It was a typical evening in a small grocery store on the corner of a busy
street. In front of the entrance sat a cat — thin, with dull fur, but with kind
eyes full of constant worry.
She tucked her paws in, occasionally standing up and rubbing against
passersby’s legs. People already knew her: many regularly brought her
something to eat. Some left a piece of sausage, others a slice of bread.
The cat took the food carefully, but not just for herself: in a nearby
abandoned shed, three hungry kittens awaited her. She carried every piece to
them because their lives were more important to her than her own.
That day the cat came a little earlier than usual and began to meow
plaintively, attracting customers’ attention. Several regular customers threw
her a sausage, and she skillfully caught the treat. People watched with
tenderness as she, without eating herself, immediately ran to feed the
kittens. It seemed everyone sympathized with the poor mother, except one.
The elderly shop assistant, who recently started working there, was irritable
and always dissatised — she believed stray animals spoiled the shop’s
appearance and scared customers away. Seeing the cat return for another
portion of food, she just snorted disdainfully.
“Here again?” she hissed through her teeth.
And when the cat approached, the woman kicked her without hesitation. The
cat meowed sadly and ran away. But after that, the shop assistant deeply
regretted her action
At that moment, a girl standing nearby saw everything. She often fed this cat
and even wanted to adopt one of the kittens. She was horried and quickly
took out her phone, recording everything on video.
“How can you not be ashamed!” she shouted at the shop assistant, but the
woman just waved her off angrily.
The girl didn’t argue — she knew the video would say much more. Posting
the clip on social media, she added a short text:
“This cat asks for food not for herself but for her babies. Today she got
kicked instead of help. Let everyone know the truth.”
The post instantly spread across city groups. People wrote angry comments
demanding punishment for the shop assistant.
The shop owner, learning about the scandal, didn’t hesitate — he red the
shop assistant that same day, not wanting the store’s reputation to suffer.
And the cat? Her story, strangely enough, ended well. After the video, many
people wanted to help — some brought food, others paid for veterinary care,
and one family even took her home with the kittens.
Now she had a place where she no longer had to beg for food or fear human
cruelty. And Tamara learned a lasting lesson — that indifference and cruelty always come with a price.
